Judge, Jury, and Executioner via Video Camera
One of my all time favorite websites, wikileaks, has recently released a video from the camera on a US helicopter in Iraq from an attack. It shows quite clearly the nature of war, with our solders forced to play judge, jury, and executioner in the span on minutes with only a video camera from 100 yards away to see what is going on. They mistook two cameras for weapons and used that for evidence to kill 15 people. I don’t blame the soldiers, they are not the ones who set up the rules that they must follow. In the US, we have very capable police. When there is a reason to believe that people have illegal weapons, the police are sent in to sort out the situation, and they rarely fire any shots at all. Why then would we not do the same in Iraq?
