My first impression is one of space and reverberation. Even tho the sound is
very brief and obviously curtailed, the sense of space is very obvious. The
is due to two factors that I hear: the large amount of reverberance, and the
lack of a distinct attack. There is a definite attack and decay to the sound,
but it feels like it comes on roundedly. The sense of attack seems to come
from the transition from the initial lower tone being replaced by a louder and
higher tone rather than the standard singular burst. There is also a sense
that this sound has been curtailed. The reverb is thick and feels like it
should go for a very long time, like a impulse in a cistern. Because this
feeling conflicts with the sample's brevity, it creates an odd tension, a
feeling of unnaturalness.
