Sound is the richest medium of human interaction, yet when we use a computer, or view art, we generally expect there to be a lack of sound. Perhaps we do not want to be that involved with our computer or with art, we want a lesser level of interaction. Sound is too dominant. Just like how we know almost inately when to be loud, when to be quiet, when to talk a lot, when to stop talking, knowing how to use sound in a given setting is essential to it being useful.
And when sound is used in human ways, it adds whole new dimensions to a given interaction
